For Auburn softball, the weekend went really well. They defeated the Tide 4-3 on Thursday night, thanks in large part to a strong start to their series by right-hander Maddie Penta.
Despite an intense 11-inning battle on Friday, the Tigers ultimately lost 0-2 in the second game of the series. However, Auburn came together in crunch time and defeated Alabama 3-0 on Saturday thanks to Annabelle Widra’s first-ever shutout in SEC action. The Tigers scored six runs in the game, and she posted a season-high seven strikeouts.
The SEC Tournament, which will be held at Jane B. Moore Field this week starting on Tuesday, is the next big event for Auburn softball.
2025 running back offered by Auburn football
Auburn football is still recruiting as the squad gets ready for summer practices. Derrick Nix, the running backs coach for Auburn football, traveled to Georgia over the weekend to see three-star running back JP Powell and personally make him an offer from the Tigers.
In addition to Auburn football, the RB has received offers from Ole Miss, Florida State, Mississippi State, and other schools recently. This summer, he intends to pay official visits to Georgia Tech and Mississippi State, and he is also planning a trip to the Plains.
Powell stated, “I’m really excited to visit Auburn,” according to Auburn Rivals. “That’s one school that is somewhat close to home that I have not visited yet… they have a great reputation as an institution.”
Derrick Nix is making sure the Tigers are at the top of the list for the 2025 running back, Powell is still receiving offers, so there is no timeframe on his decision.
