Following a “mass confrontation,” Birmingham City anticipated paying another fine.

After being fined for their players’ involvement in a “mass confrontation” during last week’s 4-0 victory against Shrewsbury Town, Birmingham City is expected to face more fines. Bristol Street Motors Trophy at The Croud Meadow: Blues thrashed Salop. To go to the next round, Chris Davies’ team just needs to win their last group match against Fulham under-21s.

Both sets of players engaged in pushing and shoving following an altercation in the second half of that game between Blues attacker Scott Wright—who finished with a brace—and his Shrewsbury counterpart Taylor Perry. Jamie O’Connor, the referee, issued several yellow cards after Wright became enraged about a foul by Perry.

Blues and Shrewsbury have been charged by the FA, and they have until today’s play to reply. An FA spokesman stated: “After the violent altercation during their EFL Trophy match on Tuesday, October 8, Shrewsbury Town and Birmingham City have been prosecuted. Around the 68th minute, neither club made an effort to make sure that its players weren’t acting inappropriately or provocatively.”

Since their players were involved in a similar incident during the League One victory over Wrexham last month, Blues have already paid a fine this season. Blues paid a £2,500 fine for that incident.
