Following a major setback, a Sunderland defender updates his injury status.

Defender Jenson Seelt of Sunderland has shared images of his recovery process while he heals from a chronic knee ailment. The 21-year-old’s injury occurred during the Black Cats’ 4-2 loss to Southampton in March, and he has been out since then. The centre defender was expected to miss six to nine months of action due to surgery for the problem.

Nevertheless, Seelt has posted pictures of his recuperation sessions to social media with the message, “No ups without downs.” A large scar from his surgery can be seen on his knee in one of the photos.Seelt was acquired by Sunderland from PSV in the summer of last year, after the defender agreed to a five-year deal. During the 2023–24 season, he made 17 Championship appearances with the Black Cats, playing both centre back and right back.
