In an exciting rematch in Dublin, Katie Taylor defeated Chantelle Cameron to exact revenge for her only career loss. Taylor’s homecoming was ruined by Cameron earlier in May when she won her four extremely lightweight titles by a majority vote. Although Cameron was the clear favorite going into the match this time, Taylor ended up winning.
Although many of the rounds were difficult to score in this gripping back-and-forth competition, everyone seemed to agree that Taylor did just enough to raise her hand. However, the fight wasn’t without controversy. Cameron gave Taylor a hard punch to the chest in the opening round, but the referee called it as a strike right away. There were a lot of questions in the heat of the moment, including whether it was a push, slip, or if Cameron’s side believed it was just a legitimate shot because the feet were tangled.
Andy Lee, who was doing commentary for DAZN at the time, thought it ought to have been called for a knockdown.
Fans appeared divided in their opinions when they took to social media to share their thoughts on what was possibly a turning point in the fight.
