FALLEN SHERROCK: Darts Star’s World Championship Hopes Hang in the Balance as She Prepares to Face Ryan Meikle

Fallon Sherrock’s World Darts Championship campaign is on the line as she prepares to face Ryan Meikle in the first round. The Queen of the Palace will be breathing a sigh of relief after avoiding a potential clash with her partner, Cameron Menzies, in the early rounds.

Sherrock, who made history in 2020 by becoming the first woman to win a World Championship match, will be looking to make a deep run in the tournament. However, she faces a tough test against Meikle, who has been in good form of late.

The winner of the match will go on to face Luke Littler in the second round, setting up a potentially thrilling encounter. Littler, who reached the final of the World Championship last season, will be looking to make a strong run in the tournament and will be confident of overcoming either Sherrock or Meikle.

Sherrock has been open about her desire to avoid playing against her partner in the early rounds, citing the potential for nerves and tension. However, she will be focused on the task at hand and will be looking to make a statement in the tournament.

“I’m just relieved that I don’t have to play Cameron in the first round,” Sherrock said. “It would have been a tough match for both of us, and I’m just glad that we can both focus on our own games without the added pressure of playing each other.”

Sherrock’s preparation for the World Championship has been intense, with the 30-year-old putting in countless hours on the practice board. She has also been working on her mental game, seeking the advice of sports psychologists to help her cope with the pressure of competing at the highest level.

“I’ve been working hard on my game, and I feel like I’m in good shape,” Sherrock said. “I’ve also been working on my mental game, trying to stay focused and composed under pressure. It’s not easy, but I’m confident that I have what it takes to make a deep run in the tournament.”

The World Darts Championship is set to get underway on December 13, with the final taking place on January 1. The tournament will feature some of the biggest names in darts, including Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, and Gerwyn Price.

Sherrock will be looking to join an elite group of players who have won the World Championship, and she will be drawing inspiration from her past successes. In 2020, she became the first woman to win a World Championship match, defeating Ted Evetts in the first round. She went on to reach the third round, where she lost to Chris Dobey.

“I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in the past, but I’m not resting on my laurels,” Sherrock said. “I’m focused on the present and the future, and I’m determined to make a deep run in the tournament. I know it won’t be easy, but I’m ready for the challenge.”

As the World Darts Championship approaches, Sherrock will be looking to make a statement and prove that she is one of the top players in the world. With her talent, dedication, and mental toughness, she has the potential to make a deep run in the tournament and bring home the coveted Sid Waddell Trophy.
