Yankees Update:

With a record of 17-9, the Yankees rank third in the American League standings, trailing the Orioles at 16-8 and the Guardians at 18-7. Next week, the Yankees will face the Orioles in a series of four games after completing a three-game series in Milwaukee. Juan Soto leads the AL with an impressive .430 on-base percentage. In Wednesday’s victory against Oakland, both Soto and Aaron Judge hit home runs, marking the first time they’ve done so in the same game this season. It’s also Judge’s birthday today, while Anthony Volpe will celebrate his on Sunday. Jose Trevino boasts a batting average of .423 with two home runs during an eight-game hitting streak. Meanwhile, Clay Holmes has accumulated nine saves and pitched 12.0 innings this season without allowing an earned run.

Check This Out:

Sending a special birthday shoutout to Art Schallock, the oldest living MLB player who celebrated his 100th birthday on Thursday! Schallock notably pitched for three consecutive World Championship Yankees teams from 1951-1953. He shares a unique connection with Yankees legend Mickey Mantle, as Mantle was temporarily sent down to the minors to make room for Schallock when the left-hander was initially called up. In the latest issue of “Yankees Magazine,” Schallock reflects on his time playing with Mantle and other baseball icons.

Get to Know the Opponent:

The Brewers, led by catcher William Contreras boasting a .364 batting average, which ranks second in the Majors only behind Mookie Betts’ .374, have kicked off the season with a strong 16-8 record. Blake Perkins with a .322 average and Brice Turang with .321 are also contributing significantly at the plate early in the season. Contreras, along with offseason addition Rhys Hoskins and Christian Yelich, has already hit five home runs each for Milwaukee. However, Yelich is currently sidelined due to a lower back strain, which has been an ongoing issue for the former MVP. The Brewers showcase one of baseball’s most promising talents, 20-year-old outfielder Jackson Chourio, who signed an impressive eight-year, $82 million contract in December before even making his MLB debut. Notably, Milwaukee’s roster includes former Yankees Gary Sánchez and Jake Bauers.

Likely Pitching Matchups:

In tonight’s series opener, Luis Gil is set to take the mound against Colin Rea. Tomorrow’s matchup is expected to feature Carlos Rodón facing Joe Ross, who missed the past two Major League seasons due to Tommy John surgery. Marcus Stroman is slated to pitch on Sunday, with the Brewers countering with Tobias Myers, a 25-year-old making his second MLB start after an impressive five innings of one-run ball on Tuesday.
