Cardiff City could see the return of Callum Robinson as they take on Sheffield Wednesday today. The former Sheffield United striker has been a standout performer for the Bluebirds this season, leading their scoring charts with five goals in the Championship. Notably, Robinson is the only Cardiff player to have scored more than once in the league so far, making him a key figure in their campaign.
The 29-year-old has been a regular presence for Cardiff but missed their last match against Blackburn Rovers before the international break due to a minor injury. However, manager Omer Riza has confirmed that Robinson has recovered well and is back in training, putting him in contention for today’s squad. “Callum Robinson has been training. He’s come through well, and he’ll be in contention to be in the squad,” Riza stated. On the downside, Cardiff will be without Kion Etete and Aaron Ramsey, both of whom have faced setbacks in their recovery. Etete’s progress was hampered during a friendly against Brentford, delaying his return by a few weeks, while Ramsey has picked up a fresh issue, with the medical staff yet to provide a clear timeline for his comeback.
Robinson, a Republic of Ireland international, is no stranger to Sheffield, having played for Sheffield United during their 2019/20 Premier League season. As Cardiff aims to climb the Championship table, Sheffield Wednesday will hope to spoil Robinson’s return to the Steel City and secure a valuable three points in front of their home crowd.
