Ex-Reading FC boss leaves Stoke City within a year

Jared Dublin, the former Head of Scouting for Reading, has departed Stoke City after less than a year with the club.

American Jared Dublin joined Reading in February 2022 as part of a backroom reshuffle orchestrated by Mark Bowen and Paul Ince, following a successful six-year tenure at Sheffield United. His appointment was well-received by fans, especially after his impressive performance at a Q&A session at Blue Collar Corner alongside Bowen and Brian Carey.

Dublin’s time at Reading lasted 16 months, ending with the club’s relegation to League One. He then moved to Stoke City, where he was appointed Head of Recruitment in June 2023. However, his stint with the Potters was brief, lasting less than a year, as the club finished 17th in the Championship—its lowest league position in 20 years.

Sporting Director Jonathan Walters commented, “We are thankful to Jared for his efforts in the role during the past year and wish him well for the future. Work to identify a successor will commence immediately, and we will inform our fans once an appointment is made. I can assure supporters that our player recruitment will continue to move forward during the process of making an appointment.”
