Bryan King has criticized the Premier League and PGMOL for their secrecy regarding the VAR controversy involving Nottingham Forest and Everton.
A former Everton scout argues that fans have every right to access any VAR audio that is made public, just like the clubs involved. This viewpoint emerges following a report by The Independent on April 24, which disclosed that Nottingham Forest had agreed to privately listen to the VAR audio through an offer from the PGMOL. This offer pertained to their 2-0 loss against Everton at Goodison Park on April 21.
In an exclusive conversation with Goodison News, King raised doubts about why this offer remains undisclosed to the public.
“Fans invest significant funds to watch their teams compete, so if clubs have access to VAR audio, why shouldn’t supporters?” questioned King. “Is there secrecy involved? And if so, what’s being concealed? We’re aware of a complaint and three pivotal incidents. So, who’s attempting to hide something? Is it Stuart Attwell and his VAR crew, the PGMOL, or maybe the Premier League?”
Relations between Everton and Nottingham Forest with the Premier League might be strained.
It’s somewhat apt that this controversy emerged during a match between Everton and Forest, two clubs that have encountered significant drama with the Premier League this season.
Given the recent points deductions, regardless of their justification, it’s reasonable that fans of both teams might be highly skeptical at present. Consequently, this private offer will likely only heighten suspicions at Goodison Park and the City Ground.
