Emery to snub returning Aston Villa ace v Luton Town in new selection twist

Alan Hutton claims that even though Ezri Konsa has resumed first-team training, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery would remain with the same team that defeated Nottingham Forest against Luton Town.

On Saturday, March 2, Villa travels to Kenilworth Road in an attempt to improve on their thrilling 4-2 victory against Forest in their previous match and raise their chances of qualifying for the Champions League this year.
Konsa’s return to first-team practice this week has given Emery’s team hope. The England international has missed Villa’s previous four games due to an injury he suffered during their 5-0 thumping of Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Although most people would anticipate that the 26-year-old will return to the Villans’ defense against the Hatters on Saturday, Hutton doesn’t think Emery needs to change much from the side that claimed all three points against Forest.

“I don’t think it will be far off it,” Hutton told Villa News.

“He always makes one or two changes, he doesn’t really tend to veer away from what he picked in the previous game if everybody is fit.

“I think Luton will be a massive test, especially there [Kenilworth Road] it’s always been difficult. People have seen how hard it is to go there and pick up all three points.

“I think this team at this moment in time, especially with the confidence that they’ve shown off the back of the Forest game, I wouldn’t really feel any need to change it unless there are new injuries.”

Aston Villa injury concern as 'ominous' Ezri Konsa twist now emerges for Unai Emery - Aston Villa News

Will Ezri Konsa start for Aston Villa and Unai Emery against Luton Town?

At Villa Park, injuries have ripped through Emery’s backline in recent weeks. Players like Tyrone Mings, Diego Carlos, Konsa, and Pau Torres have all missed significant time of the season due to various ailments.
Though few defenders in the Premier League have been as dependable and constant as Konsa, 26, has been this season, both at center-back and even as a right-back, his return will be a great boost to the Spanish boss.
Hopefully, he can continue to impress between now and the end of the season and remain injury-free as it will massively boost Villa’s chances of finishing in the top four this term.
