latest Birmingham Aston Villa news Douglas Luiz has long been admired by Arsenal, but the midfield star has other priorities.
Despite interest from several teams, including Premier League champions Arsenal, Douglas Luiz has stated that his attention is on Aston Villa.
The Gunners made three deadline-day bids for the 25-year-old in the summer of 2022, so his future is still up for dispute.
And even though Luiz inked a new, long-term contract with Villa, a few well-known opponents are still keeping an eye on him.
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has long been a fan of the Brazilian, having coached him at Manchester City.
Luiz is rumored to be at the top of the Gunners’ wish list when they look to add a new midfield player in January.
Luiz reiterates that he is not being sidetracked by the transfer talk, even though he appreciates the accolades.
“I am very happy to hear the stories but I am here at Aston Villa, ” he stated. “I’m fully focused on this.
I glance at the tales occasionally but not for very long.
I see them, but I don’t pay much attention to them or check them frequently.
I’m thinking here, at Aston Villa.
After joining Villa from City in 2019, Luiz is currently in his fifth season there. The Brazilian acknowledged his gratitude for the opportunity Villa has provided for him. He said: “Aston Villa is a club that opened its doors to me when I came to England, so I have a lot of affection and a lot of love for it.”
