Several of the 17 players who the Steelers signed to Reserve/Future contracts today were part of the team’s 2023 practice squad.
Below is a complete list of people who signed:
Luq Barcoo, a cornerback, was added to the practice squad before the beginning of the regular season after signing a one-year contract this offseason. He was an XFL player with the San Antonio Brahmas before getting a contract with the Steelers. He had 31 tackles, one interception, and one sack at the end of the season.
offensive tackling Tyler Beach: After the 2023 NFL Draft, Beach signed as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texas. Beach attended the University of Wisconsin, where he competed for the Badgers in 57 games over the course of five seasons. He participated in 11 games in 2022, nine of which he started.
Marquez Callaway, a wide receiver, signed an initial contract as an unrestricted free agent with the New Orleans Saints after the 2020 NFL Draft. In 2021, he led the club in receiving yards (698), receiving touchdowns (6), and receptions (46), all of which were career highs.
Jack Colletto, a fullback, was added to the practice squad on October 9. After the 2023 NFL Draft, Colletto was first signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent. Colletto participated in 43 games throughout his time at Oregon State, accumulating 110 carries for 401 yards and 22 touchdowns as well as four receptions for 37 yards and one touchdown.
Kellen Diesch, an offensive tackle, was added to the Steelers practice squad prior to the team’s opening Week encounter. Diesch was most recently cut during this year’s roster reductions by the Chicago Bears.
Security Jalen Elliott: In 2023, Elliott was a member of the practice squad. Following the 2020 season, Elliott first signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Detroit Lions.
Guard Joey Fisher: Fisher was released after being added to the Steelers practice squad at the beginning of the 2023 campaign. After the 2023 NFL Draft, Fisher was first signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent.
Wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick: Fitzpatrick was added to the 53-man roster on September 14 after starting the season on the practice squad. On October 2, he was taken off the active roster, and on October 4, he signed back up for the practice squad.
Devery Hamilton, an offensive tackle, was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2021 NFL Draft and spent a portion of the season on the practice squad.
Keilahn Harris, a wide receiver, was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent after the NFL Draft in 2023.
offensive tackling Anderson Hardy: After the 2023 NFL Draft, Hardy signed his first contract as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs. During his time at Appalachian State, he had 44 appearances, 29 of which were starts.
Jonathan Marshall is a defensive lineman who was added to the practice squad at the beginning of the 2023 campaign. At the conclusion of the 2022 season, Marshall was originally signed by the Steelers from the New York Jets practice squad.
Center Ryan McCollum: In 2023, McCollum was part of the practice squad. For Week 5’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, McCollum was also given an upgrade. McCollum was at training camp with the Steelers.
Denzel Mims, a wide receiver, joined the Steelers practice squad on October 3. After being acquired by the Detroit Lions in a trade with the New York Jets, he played some of the offseason and preseason with them.
Reversing course Aaron Shampkin: Shampkin played for the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts in 2022, although he most recently was with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023.
Defensive lineman Jacob Slade: After signing as an undrafted free agent in the wake of the 2023 NFL Draft, Slade spent time on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.
