Leeds United have announced that young winger Connor Douglas has signed a new two-year contract with the club.
Writing on their official X account (11 July), the Whites shared that the 18-year-old has signed terms until 2026 to stay at Elland Road after appearing for the Under-18 and Under-21 teams in the 2023/24 season.
Douglas is the ninth youngster that the club have confirmed has penned a new deal with the club to continue their progression up the ranks.
Leeds United continue to shine the light for football academies
The academy structure at Elland Road has been sensational in recent years, whether it be with homegrown talent or with youngsters signed from abroad and developed.
Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray are recent examples of stars who have come through that process to put their stamp on the first team, and there are even more to come through the ranks in the future too.
Harry Gray is a stand-out name, while Charlie Crew is on the verge of breaking into Daniel Farke’s squad this season to prove that there is a pathway for talent if they are good enough.
As fans of the club it will forever be a source of pride, and it’s no surprise that several established professionals in the game have come through at Thorp Arch at one point or another in their career.
The future is bright for Leeds, and “electric” Douglas could well find himself in the mix in the coming seasons if he continues his trajectory and development with the academy.
In other Leeds news, the club are set to block another first-team player from going to the Olympics this summer.
