Disturbing: Football Doctors expresses Leeds United Chases disaster after overnight transfer development…

Georginio Rutter joining Brighton this month would be a disaster for Leeds United, according to James Marshment.

The TEAMtalk journalist took to X on 15 August to respond to the development surrounding the French attacker’s potential move to the south coast.

This comes after David Ornstein reported on 14 August that Brighton activated the £40million release clause in his contract with the decision now resting on the 22-year-old.

Marshment wrote: “The sale of Rutter will be an absolute disaster for Leeds.

“No one at the club can do what he does, while the timing of Brighton’s raised bid also shafts us (unlikely we’d sell Archie had it come before June 30).

“Serious questions too over a £40m clause in a player signed for £35m.”

Leeds United must convince Georginio Rutter to stay

Leeds’ need to retain Rutter stems from his pivotal role in their squad, especially after a season where he significantly contributed to their attacking play.

The Frenchman’s versatility and skill set make him irreplaceable in the short term, particularly with the club’s financial constraints post-Archie Gray’s sale.

His departure could severely hamper Whites’ ambition for promotion, given his ability to create chances and score goals, which are crucial in the Championship.

Presenting a contract with better terms could show commitment to him, aligning his future with the club’s ambitions.

The Leeds hierarchy could leverage the emotional connection with fans and the club’s history, which might appeal to Rutter’s desire for legacy over immediate financial gain.

However, a move to the Premier League may be too hard to turn down so it remains to be seen how things transpire.
