Sheffield Wednesday’s initial away match for the 2024/25 season in the Carabao Cup is set for August 14th. Last week, it was confirmed that the Owls would face Hull City in their first cup game of the season, but the exact date was only indicated to be sometime during the week of August 12th.
With Wednesday’s opening Championship match against Plymouth Argyle scheduled for Sky Sports Football on Sunday, August 11th at 4pm, it was expected that their midweek game would follow later than those of teams playing on Friday or Saturday. Now, Sheffield Wednesday has announced the date and time for the Hull City game, as manager Danny Röhl and his squad continue their preparations. They will travel to East Yorkshire three days after hosting Plymouth at Hillsborough. The club’s official website states, “The Owls’ Carabao Cup clash with Hull will take place on Wednesday, 14 August. The first round tie gets underway at 7:45pm at the MKM Stadium… Ticket details will be confirmed in due course.”
In the lead-up to their first competitive fixture, Wednesday has two games lined up: one against Alfreton Town this coming weekend and another against LaLiga team Leganes on August 3rd. Additionally, with a trip to Germany planned, there might be another match or two for Röhl to further test his team.
