Despite the approaching Deadline Day, Hibs is still pursuing the top transfer target.

Amid Celtic interest, the midfielder’s future remains uncertain.

Hibernian continues to pursue Dundee midfielder Luke McCowan, with the club keen to secure his services before Friday’s transfer deadline. Dundee’s manager, Tony Docherty, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding McCowan’s future, stating that the situation is “ongoing” and that there’s no guarantee the player will remain with the team.

McCowan, who is 26 and in the final year of his contract, is a top target for Hibs manager David Gray. Hibs are hoping that offering a substantial fee, reportedly over £750,000, will persuade Dundee to sell now rather than risk losing McCowan for free at the end of the season. The Edinburgh club’s preference is to sign McCowan immediately and integrate him into the starting lineup.

Despite interest from Celtic, Hibs are optimistic about their chances of securing McCowan, though Dundee has yet to officially respond to their third bid. Docherty confirmed that there have been no new developments regarding the transfer.

In addition to pursuing McCowan, Hibs is still active in the transfer market, with sporting director Malky Mackay working to bring in another central defender. The club hopes to leverage its partnership with Bill Foley’s Black Knight stable, which could see several Bournemouth prospects offered to Hibs. However, both Mackay and Gray are committed to ensuring that any late-window signings are capable of making an immediate impact on the first team.
