“Denver Nuggets’ Biggest Disappointment: Jamal Murray’s Shooting Struggles”
The Denver Nuggets have had a questionable start to the 2024-2025 NBA season, but with Nikola Jokic playing his best basketball, the team is slowly getting back on track. However, the biggest disappointment for the Nuggets this season has been the shooting struggles of Jamal Murray.
Murray, who signed a four-year contract extension worth nearly $208 million in the offseason, has failed to live up to expectations. He’s averaging a respectable 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game, but his shooting percentages are a concern. Murray is shooting less than 40% from the field overall and 30% from beyond the arc.
The Nuggets need Murray to step up and rediscover his scoring touch, especially with Jokic out for personal reasons. Coach Mike Malone has publicly stated that the team needs Murray to carry the load as the main option. Fortunately, Murray had a solid bounce-back game against the Grizzlies, scoring 27 points, four rebounds, and six assists.
However, it remains to be seen whether Murray can consistently perform at a high level. The Nuggets are counting on him to be the second star alongside Jokic, and his shooting struggles are affecting the team’s overall performance.
