Jack Harrison has rejoined Everton on a season-long loan from Leeds United and now he could be reunited with a 2022-23 Elland Road flop that really struggled in Yorkshire.
Harrison impressed in glimpses for The Toffees last season after using Victor Orta’s relegation loan clause to join Everton following Leeds’ relegation to The Championship at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
He had a hand in seven goals as Sean Dyche’s side overcame a points deduction to survive the threat of relegation. Harrison was one of two players who had Orta’s loan clause follow on for a second season.
The other being Marc Roca, but Real Betis has decided to sign the left-footer permanently. Harrison has returned to Goodison Park on loan and now, he could be reunited with a player that flopped at Leeds.
Weston McKennie’s nightmare spell at Leeds in numbers
When he first joined, Leeds fans thought the club had pulled off a real coup. A long-term friend and old teammate of Tyler Adams, and a USA teammate of Brenden Aaronson on loan from a club like Juventus.
ESPN report that Leeds spent £1.5m to land him on loan, and would have to pay a further £35m to make the deal permanent. Thankfully, only the former fee was paid to Juventus as Leeds suffered relegation.
McKennie played 20 times for Leeds during the second half of the 2022-23 season but it is difficult to remember a game in which he offered a solid showing. Indeed, Leeds fans questioned McKennie’s fitness.
