One of boxing’s biggest heavyweight events is upon us as Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and a host of other world class fighters descend on Saudi Arabia. Some say money talks. When it comes to the sport of boxing, money may not talk, but it makes the impossible possible.
Joshua and Wilder in different fights on the same card? Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren working on the same show? It’s fair to say that the word “impossible” doesn’t translate well in Saudi Arabia.
It’s a career-defining moment for Joshua as he prepares to face Otto Wallin.
Many boxing purists will remember the Swede for his gutsy performance against Tyson Fury in 2019.
Despite losing points, the 33-year-old was able to come back strong and win all of his next six matches.
Joshua is not underestimating his opponent, although he certainly needs a win if he hopes to start fighting at the highest level in 2024. One of them is a possible conflict against Wilder. The American will face Joseph Parker in the co-tournament when he returns to action for the first time in 14 months.
Saturday’s card is so packed that the article is almost ready, but we still haven’t mentioned the undefeated Dmitri Bivol.
The undefeated light heavyweight champion will defend his IBO and WBA world titles against Lyndon Arthur.
If that wasn’t enough, there are five tougher fights to come, including an intriguing matchup between Daniel Dubois and Jarrell Miller. UK fans can watch the match via DAZN and TNT Sports Box for £19.99.
The map starts at 16:00 GMT in Saudi Arabia. Below is the full card for this weekend’s boxing event.
