Leicester City returns to Championship play this weekend, hosting West Bromwich Albion in the East Midlands.
Southampton has entered the automatic promotion race following a convincing victory over Preston North End on Tuesday evening. They currently trail Enzo Maresca’s side by four points and have a game in hand over Leeds United and Ipswich Town. As a result, Leicester must secure a win against West Brom at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has recently shared his prediction for the upcoming clash.
David Prutton offers his prediction for the match between Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion.
West Bromwich Albion will be without their top scorer this weekend, so Josh Maja is expected to step in having netted in the reverse fixture.
Interestingly, this hasn’t deterred Prutton from making a rather bold prediction. “It’s going to be a challenging match this weekend,” the 42-year-old remarked. “West Brom, as we know, have consistently hovered around fifth place for what feels like the past 14 seasons, showing remarkable resilience. However, they face pressure from Norwich, who are also in contention.”
When asked for his forecast, Prutton responded, “I predict a score draw, with a final score of 2-2.”
Leicester City cannot afford to lose points against West Bromwich Albion.
Maresca’s team is in dire need of a strong response against Albion, having suffered consecutive defeats to relegation-threatened Millwall and Plymouth Argyle. As league leaders Ipswich take on Hull City and Leeds face a trip to Middlesbrough, there’s a chance that Leicester’s automatic promotion rivals might drop points.
Therefore, the Foxes must be prepared to capitalize on any slip-ups and return to winning ways against Carlos Coberan’s side, who are anticipated to provide a stern challenge, as noted by Prutton. A point of contention for Maresca this season has been his choice of strikers, with Patson Daka often preferred over Tom Cannon and Kelechi Iheanacho.
Hence, it will be intriguing to see who gets the nod upfront for the hosts, especially after failing to find the net in the last two matches. If Leicester can harness the energy of the crowd, as demonstrated against Norwich City and Birmingham City, they should have just enough to secure victory in what is likely to be a tightly contested encounter.
