Danilo believes one of his Nottingham Forest teammates will soon be playing in European competitions.
Forest secured their Premier League status for another season in 2023/24 with a crucial 2-1 win over Burnley on the final day. Despite the challenges and a largely difficult season, there were some standout performances.
Danilo emerged as a key player under Nuno Espirito Santo, finishing the season strongly. Other notable contributors included Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood, and the in-form Anthony Elanga.
Danilo, who joined Forest for £16 million in January 2023, recently predicted that one of his teammates will soon be playing European football.
Danilo Backs Murillo for European Success
Forest managed to sign Murillo for £10.4 million, fending off interest from Manchester City. Since his debut against Brentford in October, Murillo hasn’t missed a Premier League game and is now valued at £70 million.
Danilo doesn’t expect Murillo to stay at Forest for long, believing he is destined for European football. He told The Athletic: “Murillo? He’s a different level of player. I am biased because I am with him every day but this is only his first season. He will do brilliantly in European football in the future.”
Forest’s Financial Dilemma
This summer will be challenging for Forest as they must comply with financial fair play regulations. They may need to sell one of their star players, with Murillo likely attracting significant interest.
Murillo has been outstanding, leading all Premier League centre-backs in successful dribbles according to WhoScored. At just 21, his potential is immense, and Danilo’s prediction about Murillo seems spot on.
The key challenge for Forest will be finding a suitable replacement for Murillo when he eventually leaves.
