In their final seven games of the 2023/24 season, Crystal Palace were on fire, winning six matches and drawing one. Their victories included impressive wins over Liverpool (1-0), West Ham (5-2), Newcastle (2-0), Manchester United (4-0), Wolverhampton Wanderers (3-1), and Aston Villa (5-0).
If they can carry that magnificent form into the upcoming campaign, the Eagles could find themselves competing for European spots. However, the loss of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and the potential departure of Marc Guehi to Newcastle might make things more challenging. Although Palace have been relatively quiet in the transfer market this summer, they’ve made some key additions, including Chadi Riad, Ismaila Sarr, and Daichi Kamada, all of whom should strengthen Glasner’s squad.
The possibility of Wilfried Zaha returning to Selhurst Park had fans buzzing with excitement. At 31, Zaha still possesses the skills that made him a fan favorite at Palace, and his return would have softened the blow of losing Olise. With three weeks left in the transfer window, there’s still a chance the deal could be revived, though the reasons for the current impasse remain unclear. To complicate matters, Leicester City is reportedly looking to hijack Palace’s move for Zaha, which could create further challenges for manager Oliver Glasner and owner Steve Parish.
