Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner shared his insights on Newcastle United as they prepare to face off at Selhurst Park on Wednesday.

The Magpies enter the upcoming Premier League clash with a sense of freshness, having had a break since their impressive 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on April 13th. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace has been more active, playing two matches since Newcastle’s last outing.

They secured a notable 1-0 win against Liverpool at Anfield, followed by a convincing 5-2 victory over West Ham United. With these consecutive wins, the Eagles aim to extend their winning streak at Newcastle’s expense.

However, Eddie Howe’s side may hold an advantage due to the extended rest period, allowing them ample time for recovery and training ground preparation.

Additionally, the potential return of Callum Wilson, who has resumed training after a two-month absence due to a pectoral injury, presents a significant boost for Newcastle. As a result, the Magpies are expected to enter Wednesday’s game with renewed energy and determination.

What Crystal Palace expect from Newcastle United on Wednesday

Following Crystal Palace’s impressive 5-2 victory against West Ham on Sunday, Oliver Glasner, in an interview with the club’s official website, anticipates a challenging encounter against Newcastle.

The 49-year-old manager hinted at the potential difficulty of the upcoming match against the Magpies.

“The players, how they started the game [vs West Ham] in the first 30 minutes, were really amazing,” he said.

“It was nice to watch for a manager. It was an excellent performance, but now the game is played. The game is played, we have the three points, and it’s our first back-to-back wins of the season.

“Now it’s the third one in a row against Newcastle [we are aiming for], and this will be a big challenge. They will be fresh, so we have maybe the same situation as West Ham today [having played in midweek], a little bit tired legs. Of course, we take a lot of positive things from the game today, but stay focused for the next challenges.”
