Leeds United’s pursuit of promotion will continue this weekend with intense Championship play.
On Easter Monday, United defeated Hull City 3-1 to reclaim the automatic promotion spots. Leeds is now one point behind leaders Ipswich Town in the league and in second place as a result.
Nonetheless, with a game remaining, Daniel Farke’s team leads third-place Leicester City by just one point. With just six Championship games remaining, Leeds may attempt to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds will visit Coventry City on Saturday this coming weekend. Other games include the East Anglia derby between Ipswich and Norwich City, the match between Leicester and Birmingham City, and the trip by fourth-place Southampton to play Blackburn Rovers.
All four of the teams competing for automatic promotion will be dealing with injuries heading into the weekend. Ilia Gruev, Connor Roberts, Wilfried Gnonto, Pascal Struijk, Stuart Dallas, and Jamie Shackleton are all out for Leeds.
Due to the absence of striker Kieffer Moore, Ipswich will also be without at least one player. Moore is doubtful for this weekend’s match due to a back ailment, but Tractor Boys manager Kieran McKenna did not rule out the striker from the starting lineup.
