Collingwood is pursuing a major off-field position with the former Bulldogs legend.

Collingwood is reportedly in discussions with Western Bulldogs legend Robert Murphy about bringing him on board for a key off-field role at the AIA Centre. The club has undergone significant changes recently, with president Jeff Browne, assistant coach Brendan Bolton, and list manager Graham Wright all leaving.

As the reigning 2023 premiers, Collingwood is looking to restructure its football department. According to Jay Clark from the *Herald Sun*, the club is eyeing a role for Murphy after unsuccessful attempts to secure Port Adelaide’s Chris Davies and Brisbane’s Danny Daly. Additionally, CEO Craig Kelly is considering a move for Adelaide list manager Justin Reid.

Murphy, who captained the Western Bulldogs during his distinguished 312-game career, has returned to Victoria after spending three years with Fremantle in roles such as head of football, performance, and leadership. He is highly regarded for helping elevate the Bulldogs from the lower ranks to their 2016 premiership, although he missed playing in the Grand Final due to an ACL injury. Murphy received coach Luke Beveridge’s premiership medallion in recognition of his contributions.

There are reports that Murphy had been contemplating a return to football media, but Collingwood has yet to finalize its coaching structure for the 2025 season.
