Leeds boss Daniel Farke has been told he has an issue in the striker department
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke made it quite clear he wanted a new number 10 in the transfer window and also never his his frustration that he never got one. While Leeds may be short in that area, it’s the lack of a striker to support Mateo Joseph that should be Farke’s concern according to one ex-Leeds boss.
The Whites have a new starter up top this season is Joseph, with Patrick Bamford seen as the Spaniard’s back up and behind another forward option in Joel Piroe. The trouble is that back-up is absent again through injury at the moment. Bamford has had a tough run of injury problems the past two years, a point ex-Leeds boss Neil Redfearn has been quick to highlight when assessing Leeds’ squad after the transfer window.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds he said; “You need strikers. You can’t rely on Bamford, he’s never fit. That’s a problem. You need a striker equal to Joseph off the bench because there will be times when he runs himself into the ground. Strikers are key.”
With the window now closed Farke will have to proceed with what he has, with the hope being Bamford can return after the international break to add more depth and options to the squad.
