Chris Wood took the spotlight, but Forest’s 44-touch star was the true hero against Leicester.

Nottingham Forest is soaring in the Premier League this season after securing another three points.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad took all three points on Friday night with a strong win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. This victory moves Nottingham Forest up to fifth in the Premier League with 16 points from nine games.

After facing relegation threats last season, Forest now has a comfortable 13-point lead over 18th-placed Crystal Palace. Tougher challenges may lie ahead, but Nuno’s team is showing impressive form so far.

Chris Wood, rightly, is receiving plenty of praise. Following Ryan Yates’ opening goal, Wood netted twice to seal a 3-1 win for Forest, moving him to second in Premier League scoring with seven goals, just behind Erling Haaland.

Yet, Callum Hudson-Odoi, another key performer, deserves recognition. The 23-year-old, who was instrumental in last season’s success, delivered a complete performance on Friday despite not scoring. He played 76 minutes, had 44 touches, an 88% pass accuracy, and won 10 out of 12 ground duels—showing his strength on the left wing.

Hudson-Odoi’s display may also catch the attention of England’s new manager, Thomas Tuchel, who has long praised the winger’s talent. Tuchel has spoken about wanting Hudson-Odoi to play in his natural position, where he truly shines—a shift that Friday’s game highlighted beautifully.
