Chelsea intensify their pursuit of Aston Villa’s young striker following the decision on Šeško

Benjamin Šeško has chosen to remain at RB Leipzig and extend his contract, despite interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, according to David Ornstein of NBC Sports. These top clubs were keen on the young Slovenian following his impressive performances at Leipzig over the past few years.

Who are the internal options who can play striker?

Chelsea has several internal options for the striker position. One notable player is Nicholas Jackson, who impressed many in his debut season, surpassing twenty goals and assists in his first Premier League season. At twenty-two years old, Jackson has significant potential for improvement in the coming seasons. While his finishing needs work, his hold-up and link-up play, work rate, and pressing ability have been outstanding.

Additionally, Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer can serve as false nines if needed, with Nkunku being more suited to this role on a regular basis. However, Jackson deserves another opportunity to start and potentially work in a strike partnership with Durán.
