Paul Onuachu returned to Southampton in the summer after spending last season on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey. Initially left out of the squad by manager Russell Martin, the striker has since made seven appearances this season, primarily as a substitute, totaling 134 minutes on the pitch.
According to *Voetbal Krant*, Southampton are looking to offload players in January to make space for new signings that could help in their battle against relegation. The Saints reportedly consider the 30-year-old striker “redundant” and have advised him to seek a new club.
This situation has drawn interest from several teams, including Club Brugge. The Belgian club reportedly has a “concrete” interest in bringing the former KRC Genk forward back to Belgium during the winter transfer window.
Southampton signed Onuachu for €18m in January 2023 and are aiming to recoup as much of that fee as possible. Club Brugge, fresh from a Champions League draw with Celtic, are reportedly prepared to offer €10m. While it’s unclear if this would meet Southampton’s demands, Onuachu is said to be keen on a return to Belgium in January.
