Celtic set to swoop in for ‘complete’ £6m midfielder Everton had their eye on this summer

Everton’s troubles may be piling up after their takeover collapsed on Friday morning.

Sean Dyche’s team managed to lift Everton fans’ spirits on Friday evening with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Sligo Rovers. However, the day’s major headline was The Friedkin Group’s decision to withdraw from the takeover bid for Everton.

Despite this setback, Everton’s financial position remains stable, and their summer transfer plans are not expected to be jeopardized. The club is closing in on a potential loan deal for winger Jesper Lindstrom, indicating that their transfer activity is moving forward.

However, Everton may face competition from Celtic for a key target. The club was keen on signing midfielder Tanner Tessmann on loan as a replacement for Amadou Onana, who is expected to fetch around £50 million from a move to Aston Villa. Yet, with Tessmann’s planned transfer from Venezia to Inter Milan falling through, his potential loan move to Everton is now in jeopardy.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Tessmann’s deal with Inter Milan has collapsed due to a lack of agreement between Inter and the player’s agent. This has opened the door for other clubs, including Celtic, Brentford, Torino, Parma, and Como, to pursue the American midfielder.

For Everton, this represents another setback in a challenging week. Despite this, they still have over a month to secure a suitable replacement for Onana, as the transfer window remains open and their summer plans continue to unfold.
