Sam Hilliard, acquired by the Atlanta Braves in the 2022 off-season, made a significant early-season impact in 2023. Displaying defensive prowess and impressive offensive stats, Hilliard excelled in April with a .296/.367/.904 slash line, three home runs, and six RBIs in 19 games. Despite his contributions, he struggled to gain regular playing time under manager Brian Snitker. Hilliard’s season took a downturn after an injury on July 18, leading to a limited role and a waiver by the Braves in the offseason. The Baltimore Orioles claimed him, and Braves Country wishes Hilliard success with his new team.
A promising talent in the Braves’ farm system, Waddell stands on the cusp of making his mark in the major leagues. Drafted as the second position player by the Braves in 2021, this middle infielder has consistently delivered impressive performances, positioning himself as a potential asset for the major league squad in the upcoming season.
Christmas is upon us, which means it’s time to make your annual Christmas wish list for the Atlanta Braves. It’s been a disappointing two years in Braves Country. Despite back-to-back 100-win seasons, the Braves couldn’t get going in October, falling to the Phillies in the NLDS twice in a row, which almost feels like a nightmare. However, I won’t let the past cloud my judgment of how great the Braves are set up for success now and in the future. This team doesn’t need wholesale changes, but Christmas wish lists are shooting stars, so that’s what I plan to do this year.
