Football Scotland exclusively unveiled last week that Kuhn had firmly set his sights on a transfer to Parkhead following discussions with Rodgers. Nicolas Kuhn has now provided insights into how Brendan Rodgers successfully persuaded him to reject offers from other clubs and make the move to Celtic.
The German winger finalized his £2.8 million transfer from Rapid Vienna last night, marking the Hoops’ inaugural signing of the January window. Despite having enticing options from teams in Germany and Italy, as previously disclosed by Football Scotland, the 24-year-old was unequivocally convinced to opt for Parkhead after engaging in talks with Celtic’s manager, Rodgers.
Having signed a lucrative five-and-a-half-year contract with the Scottish champions, Kuhn revealed that Rodgers played a pivotal role in influencing his decision to depart from the Austrian Bundesliga. He shared, “We had some really positive meetings. Our discussions were extensive. He emphasized the greatness of this club. Although I was already familiar with Celtic, having observed significant aspects of it, Rodgers successfully convinced me to join, and everything he communicated was truly appealing.”
Kuhn went on to highlight the impact of the personal meetings with Rodgers, including the initial training session today. He expressed, “For me, the decision was crystal clear from the moment Celtic expressed interest. Despite other clubs expressing interest, the instant I received the message, I didn’t entertain the thought of considering any alternative options.”
