The Cincinnati Bengals have maintained a high-performing offense in recent years under the leadership of Zac Taylor, Brian Callahan, and key players like Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Joe Mixon. Following the success, the coaching landscape saw Brian Callahan move on to become the head coach for the Titans in Nashville.
With Callahan’s departure, the opportunity arose for Dan Pitcher to step into the role of offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. Pitcher, who has been the quarterbacks coach in recent years, played a significant role in elevating Joe Burrow to an elite level in the NFL.
During the introductory press conference, Pitcher shared insights into his decision to continue working with Burrow, emphasizing the advice he received from respected figures in the profession. He stated, “There’s a lot of people in this profession that I respect who have great perspective who have reached out to me, and almost to a person, their advice is when you have an elite quarterback, you hang on as long as you can. And we have that here.”
Pitcher’s connection with Burrow extends beyond the football field, as he highlighted during the press conference, saying, “Not only is he an elite player, I’ve gotten to know him so well as a person. He’s a special person. He’s different. They don’t make many like him.” Now, Pitcher looks forward to continuing to build on this relationship while working with the entire offense on a daily basis.
