Koln bosses have been left angry by Dejan Ljubicic for trying to push through a move after Leeds United ended their interest, according to BILD.
The German outlet reported on 23 August that the Whites have pulled out of the race to sign the 26-year-old as the 2. Bundesliga side demanded a £6.7million fee.
Bosses have since been left “irritated and angry” by the Austrian and his representatives for intervening to try to push through a move to Elland Road.
Koln angered by Leeds United Dejan Ljubicic approach
Another transfer target appears to have come and gone for Daniel Farke’s side which is certainly a blow.
There have been plenty of exits from Elland Road throughout the summer which hasn’t been matched by new faces coming in the other direction.
Ljubicic could have proved to be an ideal addition in the midfield to combat the departure of Glen Kamara to Rennes.
The Austrian’s versatility could have proved to make him an excellent force in the Championship with the ability to play in a defensive or more attack-minded role.
It appears that the Whites were in for the 26-year-old but wouldn’t pay the fee that Koln were demanding.
Considering that sits at just over £6m, it does feel like a blow for Farke and supporters that Leeds can’t spend that sort of money on a player.
Looking at how much has been made from player sales, not having this sort of money available for transfers is a concern.
