Two Borussia Dortmund loan players made their debuts for their new teams during the last weekend of league play before the September international break.
Stade Brest secured their first win of the Ligue 1 season with a commanding 4-0 victory over AS Saint-Étienne. Soumaïla Coulibaly, who joined on loan, made his Ligue 1 debut in the 74th minute and had a significant impact. Coulibaly won a penalty in the 82nd minute after being fouled in the box, which Kenny Lala converted to secure the final score. With this win, Stade Brest moved up to 12th place in the Ligue 1 standings, rebounding after losing their first two matches of the season.
Meanwhile, Youssoufa Moukoko remained on the bench as OGC Nice cruised to a 4-1 victory over Angers SCO. The young striker will be eager to make his debut for Nice following the international break.
In the Bundesliga, Salih Özcan came on as a half-time substitute for VfL Wolfsburg, helping them to a 2-0 win over newly promoted Holstein Kiel. The Türkiye international replaced Lovro Majer and played a key role in securing Wolfsburg’s first Bundesliga win of the season. Özcan and Wolfsburg are set to face Borussia Dortmund in the second round of the DFB-Pokal next month.
Sebastien Haller, another Borussia Dortmund player on loan, did not feature for CD Leganes in their 1-0 loss to RCD Mallorca, as his loan move was finalized late on transfer deadline day. Leganes have had a mixed start to their La Liga campaign, with one win, two draws, and one defeat from their first four matches.
