Body-cam footage of former Packers running back Eddie Lacy’s DUI arrest in Scottsdale

New body-cam footage captures the arrest of former NFL running back Eddie Lacy for extreme DUI in Scottsdale last month.

On Sept. 30, Scottsdale police received a 911 call from a concerned witness who reported seeing Lacy, previously with the Green Bay Packers, swerving between lanes while driving.

In the footage, Lacy, appearing to slur his words, tells the officer, “I just, I was literally in my own lane. I have to go to my own place right here.” He explains he had flown in from Green Bay, Wisconsin, earlier that day. When asked if he’d had any alcohol, Lacy replies, “I mean, I drank on the flight, and that’s it, I guess.”

The officer questions the timing of Lacy’s drink and his flight’s arrival, but he struggles to respond. He claims he only had “one drink,” specifying it was tequila. However, when asked to step out of his vehicle, Lacy hesitates, insisting he hadn’t been “driving bad” and pointing to a nearby apartment, saying he lives right there.

Lacy mentions past football-related head injuries and identifies himself as a former Green Bay Packers player who was in Wisconsin for an alumni event. When asked to take a breathalyzer test, Lacy acknowledges, “I was drinking the whole weekend.” The officer clarifies she’s only asking about that day, and Lacy reluctantly agrees to the test.

After admitting he had a prior DUI, Lacy is told his blood alcohol content (BAC) measured at .325. The officer then arrests him, listing several DUI charges as well as possession of an open container in the vehicle.

During transport, Lacy comments on the discomfort of the handcuffs, to which the officer responds, “It’s not meant to be comfortable.”

Lacy, who played for the Packers from 2013 to 2017, gained over 1,000 yards in his first two seasons. He later signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 before retiring.
