Birmingham City have outmaneuvered Huddersfield Town to sign Alfie May, last season’s top scorer in League One. The Blues secured May for a £775,000 fee, beating the Terriers, who showed interest only recently. May, who netted 23 goals for Charlton Athletic, is a significant acquisition for Birmingham’s new American owners, who aim to return to the Championship immediately.
In addition to May, Birmingham is close to finalizing a deal for Sparta Rotterdam defender Mike Eerdhuijzen. The 23-year-old made 20 appearances in the Eredivisie last season and looks forward to proving himself in English football. New manager Chris Davies is being actively supported to lead the club back to the Championship.
