The 22-year-old, who joined Sunderland from Linfield in January 2022, has made a name for himself as a vital member of the team. Hume played more minutes than any of his colleagues in the previous season, starting 45 of Sunderland’s 46 Championship games. The Northern Ireland international has a contract that runs until the summer of 2027 with a one-year option to extend, having signed a fresh agreement last summer. Although Hume is under contract with Sunderland for an extended period, he may be given the chance to finalise a Premier League transfer this summer.

Yet, the Villans’ worries about adhering to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules may force them to sell players before making a move for Hume.
Why is Hume being pursued by Bournemouth and Aston Villa?
