Aston Villa advised on how to secure midfielder “offered” to Arsenal and Tottenham.

Aston Villa have received direct guidance on how to sign a midfielder who has reportedly been offered to both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Aston Villa, showing interest in Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Carlos Soler, now understand the conditions needed to secure a deal.

Soler, a 14-time Spain international, made just 24 Ligue 1 appearances last season, mostly off the bench. He found himself behind Vitinha, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Fabian Ruiz in the midfield pecking order and sometimes had to play full-back to get game time. Last season was hoped to be a breakthrough for Soler in Paris, but it mirrored the previous season where he was primarily a substitute. His previous success of scoring 11 goals in consecutive La Liga seasons with Valencia has not been replicated, leading to a frustrating period for him.

French outlet Foot Mercato reports that Villa have been offered the chance to give Soler a fresh start with a temporary deal. PSG has asked Unai Emery’s side to take the versatile midfielder on loan for the season, with Villa paying a fraction of his £80,000-per-week wages in return.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have also been offered Soler’s services for the season, presenting two other potential routes into the league. While PSG would welcome a permanent sale at the right price, Soler is reportedly against that idea. He hopes to eventually become a starter at Parc des Princes and believes a loan move could help him regain form, benefiting whichever club takes him on.
