As Swindon Town’s loan period comes to an end, Harry McKirdy’s future is the latest.

Harry McKirdy, who is returning to Hibs after a loan spell in England, is leaving Swindon Town without saying goodbye.

The attacker, who scored 21 goals in the 2021–2022 season and was selected to the League Two Team of the Season, returned to The Robins in January. As a result, he was traded to Hibs, where he has made 26 appearances in league play without scoring or providing an assist.

He missed the first part of this season due to heart surgery, and after returning to the English fourth tier, he made two cameo appearances under Easter Road manager Nick Montgomery. Since then, he has made nine appearances at the County Ground club, starting one game. Against Harrogate Town, he played the first half before being replaced.

One goal, scored in stoppage time of a 2-2 tie with Gillingham in February, proved to be memorable. Following a brief appearance in a 2-0 victory over Barrow on April 6, McKirdy was benched against AFC Wimbledon and did not play in the squads for Walsall or Grimsby Town due to a niggle.

This weekend’s matchup against Morecambe will not see McKirdy play since he is not well enough. In order to prepare for Montgomery’s team’s return to Premiership action against St Johnstone on Friday morning, the 27-year-old has returned to training at HTC.

Temporary Regarding McKirdy’s condition, Swindon head coach Gavin Gunning told the Swindon Advertiser, “Harry won’t be involved at the weekend.” He might be anywhere in between [Swindon and Hibernian], in my opinion.
