Some of the best teams in Europe are reportedly interested in signing one of Stoke City’s brightest prospects before the summer transfer window opens. When Sol Sidibe was a late substitution during last season’s opening-day annihilation of Rotherham United, at the age of sixteen and 176 days, he became the second youngest player ever fielded by the Potters. The young midfielder’s big moment occurred nearly eighteen years to the day after his father made his Potters debut. Mamady Sidibe is the son of former Stoke striker.
Since then, Sidibe Jr. has made eight appearances for Stoke, including his first start in a Carabao Cup triumph over West Brom. He has also made an impression with the England under-17 team, which has helped him gain further recognition overseas. The Mail claims that Chelsea is interested in the Stoke young player who was born in Paris, and that Rangers and AC Milan are also keeping an eye on him. According to The Mail, “The central midfielder earned rave reviews after former manager Alex Neil gave him a full debut.” With England’s under-17 team this season, Sidibe has garnered notoriety on a global scale. He is also eligible to play for Senegal and Mali, and France is thinking of calling him up. His French passport is what has made European authorities aware of this.
Sidibe recently appeared for Stoke in a 4-0 victory over Bristol City on the last day of play. Pete Smith of StokeonTrentLive gave the young player a seven for his 15-minute cameo in his player ratings from the game, writing: “A nice way to finish the season by getting back on the pitch.” The last time Stoke defeated Bristol City here, his father was scoring the winning goals.” Speaking recently about his own breakout season, Sidibe stated: “The first team experience at the start of the season was great.” All I wanted was to make an impression, and I had that chance. I hope there will be more in the future.
The staff has demonstrated their belief in me by providing me with opportunity to grow and improve as a football player.
