Argentine star discusses alleged Aston Villa transfer bid and hints at Monchi involvement.

The newest transfer update from BirminghamLive features Marcos Acuna addressing his unsuccessful move to Villa Park last summer.

Marcos Acuna alleges that his potential move to Aston Villa was thwarted by “personal” issues between Monchi and Sevilla president Jose Castro. Last summer, the Argentine defender was linked with a switch to Villa Park, but ultimately remained in Spain. Reflecting on the failed transfer, Acuna disclosed that Villa presented “a significant offer” to Sevilla.

“They were not rumors; Sevilla had a substantial offer that, due to personal reasons involving the president and Monchi, fell through, and I was the one affected,” he stated. “I believe I didn’t deserve it because it would have brought in a good amount of money, but that’s in the past now, and I’m focused on the upcoming matches.”

Regarding his future, Acuna concedes uncertainty. “I have a contract until 2025, but I’m unsure,” he admitted. “First, I need to accumulate playing time, participate in matches, and then assess what comes next.”

He added, “I’m unsure. I have faith in myself, and the club’s personnel have confidence in me. What others say from the outside doesn’t concern me. I always strive to give my best, and I believe I’ve demonstrated that in every game I’ve played.”
