The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly exploring options to bolster their wide receiver corps, with rumors suggesting they’ve made inquiries to the Seattle Seahawks regarding D.K. Metcalf’s availability.
In a speculative trade scenario proposed by FanSided’s John Buhler, the Steelers would acquire Metcalf in exchange for multiple draft picks and their current standout wide receiver, George Pickens. Buhler suggests a trade package consisting of a 2025 first-round pick, a 2025 third-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, a 2026 fourth-round pick, and Pickens.
The rationale behind such a move, according to Buhler, is to elevate the Steelers from their perennial mid-tier record range and position them as contenders within their division. By adding a talent of Metcalf’s caliber, Pittsburgh could potentially challenge their division rivals and elevate their win ceiling.
However, Pickens, who is still under his rookie contract for two more years, currently holds the top receiver spot on the team’s depth chart for the upcoming 2024 season. While Metcalf brings undeniable star power and proven NFL performance, it remains uncertain if the Steelers would be willing to part ways with their primary offensive weapon and commit to such an extensive draft pick package for a single wide receiver.
