On-loan Liverpool winger Lewis Koumas has been a welcome surprise at Stoke City this season.
Football League World’s Stoke City fan pundit, Sam Harrison, expects the 19-year-old to continue making waves. After rising through Liverpool’s youth ranks, Koumas made his Anfield debut last season, scoring in a 3-0 FA Cup win over Southampton. With limited first-team opportunities, he moved on loan to Stoke during the summer for regular senior action.
Koumas has quickly become a key figure, featuring in 11 of Stoke’s 12 league games and scoring twice. His hard work and skill have impressed fans and analysts alike, with Harrison particularly praising his relentless energy and technical ability. According to Harrison, Koumas “runs himself into the ground,” always giving maximum effort on and off the ball, which has thrilled Stoke supporters.
So far this season, Koumas has three goals and two assists in 14 appearances across all competitions. His performances are sparking excitement among fans, though his recent contract extension with Liverpool makes it unlikely that Stoke will retain him after this loan spell. Koumas may be destined for higher-level competition soon, but for now, Stoke fans are savoring his impressive contributions.
Stoke are currently 19th in the Championship table, just a point clear of relegation. Their next match is a Carabao Cup fixture against Southampton, followed by a Championship game against Derby County on Saturday.
