Adam Idah will assess his prospects during his loan stint at Celtic, and as of now, there are no definitive plans regarding his future with Norwich City, his parent club.
The 22-year-old finalized his transfer to Parkhead on the deadline day, with Celtic emerging as a last-minute temporary option in the January window for his boyhood club.
Although Norwich City had been open to a loan arrangement with an option to buy, with offers received for such a deal from Italian club Verona, Idah’s move to Glasgow did not include any future fee. The outcome of his time in Celtic is expected to play a significant role in determining his future.
“For now, it’s obviously a six-month loan, and we’ll take each game as it comes,” said the Irish international. “We’ll see what happens at the end. This is probably the most minutes I’ve played in a season, and this is the most goals I’ve scored in a season. But like I said, I want to take the next step, and I think I can do that at Celtic. Hopefully, I’ll score a load of goals here.
The move is somewhat of a fantasy for the Norwich academy graduate, whose Irish background played a role in his decision to join Celtic. Aware of the pressure associated with joining such a significant club, given his status as a fan, he is hopeful that he can thrive on it and is looking forward to the opportunity.
“I’ve always been a Celtic fan,” he continued, speaking to Sky Sports. “We played Celtic last pre-season, and I even said to the players that one day I’d love to play for Celtic. So I guess it’s a dream come true. A lot of people have spoken to me about that [expectation], and I already know myself from before that the expectation is here. It’s really demanding, as it should be. Celtic is a really big club, and I can’t wait to walk out on the pitch.”
