YOUNG full-back After leaving Southampton’s Academy, Matt Carson signed a free move to Torquay United.
Ahead of the 2024–2025 National League South season, Carson, 20, signed a one-year contract to play for Paul Wotton’s team, the former Southampton player. Carson, who played for Northern Ireland at the under-16, under-18, and under-19 levels, joined Saints from Glentoran in 2020.
He played for Southampton’s under-18 Premier League South winning squad in 2021–2022, and there have been rumours of him joining Derby County in the past. During the 2023–2024 season, Carson briefly played on loan for National League South Braintree Town. He made seven appearances for The Iron, scoring in their September 1-1 draw with Aveley FC.
