Josh Taylor  “Needs  to  Be  Realistic”  About  Purse  Demands,  Says  Jack  Catterall  Manager

Josh Taylor needs to come back to earth, says Jack Catterall’s manager.
Scotland’s Taylor, the former undisputed 140lb champion, caused a stir last week when he said he turned down an offer from Matchroom Boxing to face Anglian Catterall in a rematch because the purse offered was 80% of his first fight day.

Taylor controversially defeated Catterall by split decision last February when Taylor defended his four 140-pound titles for the first time. Many fans and experts considered this decision one of the worst in recent times.
They were scheduled for an immediate rematch, but after a series of starts and stops, they decided to go their separate ways when Taylor vacated several of his belts to face Teofimo Lopez, who defeated him by unanimous decision last summer at the Theater at. Madison Square Garden in New York. Catterall has won two straight, unanimous decisions over Darragh Foley and Jorge Linares since his controversial loss to Taylor.
Catterall’s chief trader Sam Jones said Taylor had to accept the fact that his stock had fallen since his first meeting with Catterall. However, Jones pointed out that Hearn should do his part to sweeten the pot a little more for Taylor.

“They don’t like each other,” Jones told Boxing Social. “He (Taylor) doesn’t like me. It is exactly what it is. It’s just going to be a huge addition, isn’t it. It will be nasty. If it’s genuine and not forced and fake, you’ll get a decent composition. …British boxing needs this to happen. “Where are we now? Eddie says he’s sharpening his pen. He’s going back to Josh Taylor and hopefully Josh, he just has to be realistic. He just has to face the fact that he has two losses. He has to be realistic. The only person standing in the way of this fight is Josh Taylor and as I say Eddie needs to sharpen his pen and end the fight with Josh’s words.

For Catterall, Jones said there are no financial obstacles to fighting Taylor.
“Eddie has to sharpen the pencil and Josh Taylor has to be realistic,” Jones said. “It’s okay on our side. It’s that simple.”

Jones added: “We need domestic battles to happen.”
