Everton anticipate progress regarding his signing in the months ahead.
Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has attracted attention from several Premier League clubs due to his impressive performances. While Arsenal have not yet made a formal approach, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicated in his Daily Briefing that Everton anticipate significant developments regarding the Belgian midfielder.
Arsenal, in search of a replacement for Thomas Partey and a midfield partner for Declan Rice, have closely monitored Onana, as Romano noted. Despite interest last summer and in January, Arsenal did not pursue him, opting to focus elsewhere after securing Rice. Nevertheless, they continue to monitor Onana’s situation, although no direct contact has been made thus far this summer. Everton, however, are preparing for potential offers for the talented 22-year-old, who has been described as “superb” in the Premier League.
Onana’s appeal lies in his Premier League experience, having made 63 appearances since his £33 million move from Lille to Everton in 2022. He has established himself as a key figure in Everton’s midfield under Sean Dyche’s management.
In addition to midfield reinforcements, Arsenal are also targeting a right-winger to provide competition for Bukayo Saka. Nico Williams of Athletic Club is on their radar, with Arsenal aiming to secure his services this month. The Gunners face competition from top clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea for Williams, who has garnered significant interest this summer, particularly from Arsenal.
As they plan for the upcoming season, Arsenal’s strategic approach to midfield and wing reinforcements could be pivotal in their quest to challenge for top honors in the Premier League.
