The Magpies have pinpointed the thrilling Argentinian as a potential summer signing.
Newcastle United are reportedly keeping a close eye on emerging Argentinian talent Matias Soule this summer.
The 21-year-old forward, who is also attracting interest from Premier League rival Aston Villa, had a standout campaign in Serie A with Frosinone on loan from Juventus. Soule scored 11 goals and registered three assists for the Canaries, despite their relegation to the second tier of Italian football.
Bologna coach Thiago Motta is set to be appointed as Juventus’ new manager this summer, and the club has reportedly set a £34m price tag on Soule. Both the Magpies and Unai Emery’s men are keen on securing his services when the transfer window opens. Soule already boasts UEFA Champions League experience, having played for Juventus during their 2022/23 campaign, featuring in defeats to Maccabi Haifa, Benfica, and PSG. His loan spell with Frosinone has impressed Juventus, but they also see this as an opportune moment to cash in.
Soule has developed a strong relationship with Massimiliano Allegri during his time at Juventus, and it remains to be seen if Thiago Motta’s new style of play will include Soule’s talents. Reflecting on Allegri’s influence, the forward emphasized the significant impact the legendary Italian coach has had on his development.
“He taught me a lot,” Soule said, as quoted by Calciomercato. “To occupy spaces, to play multiple roles. With him, I also played as a fifth, as a midfielder, or as a wide player on the right in a 4-3-3. And he helped me a lot in the defensive phase.”
