Updates from the bet365 Stadium as Stoke City press on with significant offseason renovations
Stoke City is working to complete a new £1.5 million fan zone at the bet365 Stadium before the start of the new season. Planning permission has been granted for the 1,550-capacity zone, set to offer various amenities for fans before and after matches, as well as on non-match days. Additionally, discussions are underway regarding the possibility of establishing another fan zone at the opposite end of the stadium in the future.
Simultaneously, renovations are ongoing to introduce licensed standing areas for the first time since the stadium’s inception in 1997. Changes include relocating the away end to the southeast corner and allocating the south stand for home fans, allowing for a more balanced presence of supporters around the tunnel area. Moreover, the club has received approval to designate the car park behind the south stand for home fans’ use, potentially paving the way for further development opportunities.
Vice-chairman Richard Smith expressed optimism about the progress of these projects, noting the significant improvement they will bring to the fan experience. The fan zone will feature a stage, food and drink outlets, children’s play areas, and a large screen for various entertainment purposes. It aims to cater to pre and post-match gatherings, fan engagement activities, and other events such as music concerts or movie screenings.
Regarding the standing area, season ticket holders for the upcoming season have the opportunity to secure their spot in the newly designated section before general sales begin. These initiatives align with Stoke City’s commitment to enhancing the matchday experience and fostering greater fan engagement at the bet365 Stadium.
